For things that I use every day, I prefer to pay a bit more if the quality is stable. Many times I avoided a bad purchase just by reading a few careful comments. Recently I have been testing several online eyewear shops to compare frames and lenses. Each material has advantages and disadvantages depending on season and activity. Over the last months I noticed that some of my favorite items are not the most expensive ones. When I test a new shop I usually start with one or two items instead of a huge order.

Smaller shops can be surprisingly friendly if they care about repeat customers. For coats and blazers I usually go one size up if I want to layer sweaters under them. Sometimes one good quality item is better than five very cheap ones. If a website gives a detailed guide for measurements, I feel more confident when ordering. If you sit in front of a screen for many hours, these small features make a difference. Footwear is even harder because different brands cut shoes very differently.
